Mechanics
Edge of Olympia is a hardcore, open-PVP world. The rules below are what make every fight a wager on everything you've built — they come straight from the live balance constants.
The death penalty
Death costs 12% of your XP — the death tax, and it's enough to de-level you — plus 30% of your gold. You respawn at the temple with 60% HP after a short delay. This is the single rule that governs how you should play everything else: never bite off more than you can survive.
Open PVP & the skull system
You can attack anyone outside the temple. Aggression marks you:
- WHITE SKULL — an aggressor's mark, lasting 60s.
- RED SKULL — for killing an innocent; lasts 300s.
Skulled players are temple-locked, and creatures body-block tiles, so you can't simply walk through a fight. The frontier polices itself.
Gathering skills
Press G near water, a tree, or rock to gather (cooldown 2.2s). Eat fish (H) to heal. Gathered goods feed the forge and the material pouch.
| Skill | Verb | XP / action | Yields |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fishing | fish | 30 | Fish (eat to heal) |
| Mining | mine | 35 | Iron Ore |
| Woodcutting | chop | 25 | Timber |
Resource gathering is capped at root level 16.
Progression & ability slots
Your level scales expressed weapon power (70% baseline, +3% per level, capped at 160%) — there are no item level gates. Ability slots unlock as you level:
| Slot | Unlocks at |
|---|---|
| Q | level 1 |
| W | level 3 |
| E | level 5 |
| R | level 8 |
Carry capacity: 16 backpack slots, bags nest up to 4 deep.
World bosses
Random spawns announced only by region ("the ground trembles in the northern caves…"). They despawn if unkilled and drop Ancient Relics. See the Bestiary.
Hidden quests
There is no quest log — discovery is the content. An unmarked tile in the far southwest starts a line; killing a demon at death's door earns a title; speaking old words in the dark cave answers; regicide is remembered. The world never tells you about them.
Accounts & characters
Login is name + email + password (bcrypt; first login with an unused name registers the character). One account owns many characters and mirrors to a shared database, so your account spans the live worlds. The first account to register a name on a fresh world becomes its founder admin.
Every number on this page is read live from the game's balance constants — re-run the generator and the wiki re-syncs.
